Farewell Dear Friend, Audrey
It seems that God needed another angel so He called Audrey home on Friday, November 21st. We dearly loved and appreciated Audrey for who she was and for all she did for others. She remains a special part of Children Helping Poor and Homeless People.
For over fifteen years, Audrey was a significant part of the CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box Program through her work with the wonderful students, parents, administration, teachers and staff at Echo Horizon School who together each year produced over 100 nutritious feasts for children and their families in need.
We thank the Echo Horizon School Community for continuing the tradition of participating in the CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box, a tradition and program that exemplified Audrey's genuine compassion for children and their parents in need.
Thus, to honor this wonderful woman, Children Helping Poor and Homeless People dedicated this year's CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box Program on Monday, November 24th to Audrey. Further, in future years, we will continue to dedicate our CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box Program to Audrey, the tremendous teacher who taught us all so very much.
We miss you, dear Friend. Please rest in peace, Audrey and know that we love you.
We send our sincere condolences to Audrey's husband, Kenn, and their extended families.
We also thank Kenn for recommending donations to CHPHP to honor Audrey in lieu of flowers.
Thank you for honoring Audrey by helping poor and homeless children and their families about whom Audrey cared so much.
CHPHP Thanksgiving
In A Box Program 2008
Once again this year on the Monday before Thanksgiving, November 24th, the CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box Program was a great success.
250 magnificent Thanksgiving feasts were donated from schools, groups and individuals, including Brentwood School, Echo Horizon School, Scout Troop 383 of Sierra Canyon School and The Beverly Hills Active Adult Club.
These nutritious and delicious bounties, truly groceries for the week, were shared with families in need in Culver City, Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
We thank each and every donor, distributor and volunteer for their incredible contribution to helping children and their families in need.
We dedicated our CHPHP Thanksgiving In A Box Program in honor of Audrey, our beloved friend. Please see the article about Audrey above and the pictures of the event at the bottom of column one and in column two.
The Scouts Come Through
Again This Year
By Girl Scout Troop 383
Sierra Canyon School Girl Scout Troop 383 from the San Fernando Valley gathered together to make 32 baskets for the CHPHP Thanksgiving In The Box Event. They dropped the baskets at the CHPHP program site.
The girl scout volunteers who participated were Camryn, Emma, Gabriella, Hannah, Isabella, Jane, Joslyn, Kayla, Kristen, Nicole, Rachael and Tess. The girls enjoyed shopping at Ralph's Market in Calabasas.
Thanks to Jennifer and Chuck who generously underwrote this event. We also traveled to their home to assemble the baskets.
The spirit of giving was definitely present during this event.
Thanks to CHPHP for giving us this opportunity to give back to our community.
Halloween Candy Drives
Many thanks to the Echo Horizon School Community and the Village School Community for donating pounds and pounds of Halloween candy for those in need.
We thank each child who gave up part or all of his/her Halloween treats so that children in need could enjoy the candy.
In this economy, candy is a luxury that thousands of children and their parents cannot afford.
By sharing your candy with those children in need, you brought sweet smiles to the faces of those children who have very little else to smile about. Thank you!
